Install

Connect Claude Code to Surface, so it can set up and manage surfaces for you.

Create a management key

In the Surface dashboard, open Settings → Developers and click Create key. Copy it now: it starts with mak_live_ and is shown only once. Don't have an account? Sign up from that page and you'll land back on it.

Connect Claude Code

/plugin marketplace add surface-ai-code/claude-plugins
/plugin install surface-ai@surface-ai

Run in Claude Code. Paste your key when it asks, then restart Claude Code.

Check it works

Run /mcp in Claude Code: surface should show as connected. Then ask Claude to list your surfaces, or to set up Surface on a page of your project.

Plugin installed, but no Surface tools?

The key is missing or invalid, so the server never connected. Run /plugin, choose surface-ai, configure it with a new key, and restart Claude Code.
